 "LET’S HAVE A PARTY!”

In the morning, Hon. Secretary Sue Seeger added her commentary to an collection of pictures taken by Chairman Michael Cullingworth two years ago at the wonderful Yves Saint Laurent exhibition, ‘Style is Eternal’  held at The Bowes Museum.  This show captured all the elegance and ecstasy of fashion from the 1960’s, seventies and eighties. YSL was a master in his field, and the display included his drawings, couture and ready-to-wear garments, theatrical costumes, toiles, millinery, haberdashery and also some video-footage of live shows. Sue will commentate. This was the first ever UK exhibition of the work of one of the greatest designers of all time. It really was a treat – and a coup for The Bowes!

Following an excellent buffet lunch, Founder Member, Anthea Bickley introduced 40 years of  the NSCT telling the story of the Society's foundation and showing some of the highlights of those 40 years.  Members present then added some of their own memories.

The meeting concluded with the cutting of a Celebratory Cake by the two primary founding members, Anthea Bickley and Mary Bentham.   Slices of  the excellent cake were then distributed to all accompanied by cups of tea.

It was a day thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
