Venue:

In the morning at this meeting, Clarice Wokes, the 17th Century specialist to whom we were first introduced at Settle last Autumn gave us a fascinating Powerpoint presentation, "Twas on a Monday morning...." , based on the customs, procedures and practices of the early launderess. Due to its top quality and special design,  are your right choice. Don’t hesitate to buy fashion Ugg Boots on Sale now. The talk was backed up by an interesting selection of items from her collection.  She was ably supported by her husband who modelled some of the clothes she spoke about.  At the conclusion of the talk a spirited discussion was held amongst the audience.

Following this, we were delighted with a short presentation by Ailsa Amos BA, one of the winners of our recent Bursary Awards for studentsof fashion at Huddersfield University, during which she showed the beautiful work which was her BA Finals project, "The Nightingale", based on costumes for the opera by Stravinsky set in Edo, Japan.

After an excellent buffet lunch, Julia Fox MA,  Curator of the Devonshire Collection of Period Costume showed us a selection of Victorian Cheap  outlet store clothes from their collection under the title of "Secrets of a Victorian Toilette" .  Many of the garments she showed were launderable, but there were some others that needed far more gentle care!

In all, an excellent, instructive and enjoyable day.
