OF COSTUME AND TEXTILES
Date:

Title:
The Snibston Discovery Park
Venue:
Coalville, Derbyshire

Snibston is a lottery-funded interactive Museum of Science, Industry, Technology, Art and History. The newly refurbished Textile and Fashion Gallery has been put together by Philip Warren, Leicester's Keeper of Cultural Life and a favourite speaker of our Society. Our visit coincided with the second day of the Gallery's opening, but nevertheless, we were assured of an eager welcome.

The Fashion galleries also include 100 mannequins within five thematic displays: 'Why we wear clothes'; 'The Body transformed'; The Fabric Lab'; 'Fashion Works' (making and selling, and a temporary exhibition-space which reflects overseas fashion and it's effect on women's clothing.

We thought it best to allow plenty of time for members to browse at their own pace, so following a short introduction, Philip offered us a relevant presentation during the afternoon.
