VICTORIA: a costume exhibition

VICTORIA: a costume exhibition

Harewood House

24 March - 29 October 2017

Harewood House was recently used as a major set for ITV’s Victoria series. The crew filmed across Yorkshire for several months during winter 2015/16. Harewood was fortunate enough to be one of their key locations.

To celebrate the success of the programme, the opulent rooms on Harewood’s State Floor will come to life with costumes from the programme. Outfits worn by Jenna Coleman who plays Queen Victoria will be displayed throughout the 2017 season. Alongside the costumes, the exhibition will present a behind the scenes look at filming in a grand House like Harewood. Learn how the team prepare and manage the house and discover how rooms are transformed into sets.

The Silk Route: a never ending journey

The Silk Route: A Never-Ending Journey

The Silk Museum, 16 September – 10 November 2017

Threadmill have been working for 21 years to promote stitch and textiles, with 14 members all with very different styles and techniques.

For this exhibition the group has taken inspiration from the museum’s collections to create a journey through the countries of the Silk Road.

Threadmill was formed in 1995 by a group of like-minded artists in the North West of England. The members have a wide range of backgrounds; most have recognised vocational qualifications or degrees in Art and Design subjects and many also teach in schools and colleges. We all share an enthusiasm for creativity whilst using textiles as our principal means of artistic expression.
